Every traveler from south to north hear the name of Koh Phangan. It is a beautiful island in southeast Thailand. There are other well-known islands, such as Koh Tao or Koh Samui. We decided on Koh Phangan because a friend of ours lives there. So, we had to go yes or yes! The truth is that it was great to discover the island with someone who knows it well … so now we discover the 10 Things to do in Koh Phangan paradisiac island!!
Things to do in Koh Phangan
You can do lots of things to do in Koh Phangan. The easiest way to travel Koh Phangan is by renting a motorbike. Next, to the dock, there are several rental companies, and it gives you great freedom to go wherever you want! But you have to keep in mind that you drive on the left! Also, traffic regulations are not strictly enforced; people go without a helmet, 3 or 4 people on a motorcycle … you have to drive with a lot of caution.
There’s nothing like relaxing on its white sand beaches … under the palm trees … a joy! We especially liked the beach Mea Haad Beach, with a tongue of land that separates two beaches, gorgeous!
See the sunsets by the sea
The most beautiful thing was enjoying the sunset on the beach, lying on the sand watching the last rays of sun disappear under the sea…
Go out partying
Every week a party is organized with the excuse of the phases of the moon … the best known and that attracts more people is the Full Moon Party. We do not arrive for the full moon, and we find the Half Moon Party, and there is also the Black Moon Party when there is a new moon … so for A or B, there is a party guaranteed!
The beaches of Thailand are full of life, corals and fish are on the shore, barely swimming 20 meters you can find fish of the most varied! So do not forget to take a snorkel and a tube!
Sleeping in a cabin on the beach
In Koh Phangan, there are the most varied accommodations: resorts, luxury hotels, hostels … but the best thing to do is to stay in a cabin on the beach, and be able to enjoy the sunsets lying in a hammock!
Learn to do Yoga
If you’re looking for a few days of relaxation, you’re also extending the practice of yoga on the beach, as an alternative to parties. There are several yoga schools. They teach all kinds of people (with or without experience). One of the best known is Agama Yoga if you want to try it the first session is free.
Diving or doing a dive baptism
Although the best-known place to do diving courses is Koh Tao, also in Koh Phangan there are schools and places to enjoy incredible sea beds !! If you are lucky, you can even see whale sharks !! I exited with double immersion, and it was spectacular! Balloonfish, anemones, corals, parrot fish … everything!
Visit Thongsala and its Pantip Food Market
Thongsala is the main town on the island, where you will find most shops, restaurants, and transport connections. Also, it also has many markets where at a good price we can try the typical gastronomy of the island or have a freshly squeezed juice for 30 Bahts!!
Enjoy the monsoon
It seems complicated, and we usually think that the rain will spoil our vacations, but the monsoon is a type of rain that in a matter of minutes releases a lot of water, and in 20 minutes the sun has returned. This gives us landscapes with the rainbow, which if before were pretty … one remains with his mouth open!
If you agree with Saturday you should not miss going to the walking market in the Thong Sala area. Avoid going during the days of the full moon. Although in the north of Koh Phangan the profile of people going to the party is not so common, accommodation prices tend to be a bit more expensive during the days leading up to the party.
The best way to get around the island is by motorcycle. Drive with caution. Remember that Koh Phangan has incredible beaches. Before going to the island, consult what time you will find in the following days.
